Background
Dwarka — a coastal pilgrimage city with a large floating population — needed dependable door-to-door collection, real segregation at source and a trained sanitation workforce, while removing persistent open-dumping points. Social Lab delivered the programme with sampurnEarth and Tata Chemicals Society for Rural Development (TCSRD), pairing operational fixes with mass awareness and Gujarat’s first Precious Plastic Lab.
The challenge
Dwarka needed reliable door-to-door collection, higher source segregation and a trained sanitation workforce, alongside the removal of persistent garbage-vulnerable points across the city.

Driving toward 80%+ segregation at source through door-to-door sticker campaigns and awareness.
Training safai karmacharis through dedicated classroom sessions, PPE kits and completion certificates to improve daily performance.
Ward-level competitions, street plays and GVP-removal events, plus launching Gujarat’s first Precious Plastic Lab.
