The problem
- Improper waste collection and disposal across the city.
- No segregation of waste at source.
Rahuri needed a city-wide, sustainable solid waste system spanning residential zones, educational institutions, commercial spaces and waste-processing infrastructure — with reliable collection and an engaged community.
The programme’s approach
Daily door-to-door collection covering 100% of households, with GPS-enabled route monitoring using 7 collection vehicles and 2 dumpers.
5 workshops training 105+ safai karmacharis for safer, more effective operations.
Awareness drives reaching 35,000+ citizens, plus rallies and clean-up drives.
Sensitising 2,500+ students across 10+ schools and colleges.
